Law enforcement officials in the city of Linfen discovered that a local couple was selling bricks from the Great Wall of China on an e-commerce platform. The cost of one stone was about 100 yuan (about $14), not including shipping. According to the site, the attackers implemented more than 100 fragments.
The sellers claimed that the bricks came from a section of the wall dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), which is more than 400 years old. Some buyers confirmed their authenticity in the reviews and expressed their willingness to purchase more. Such actions have caused concern, as they pose a threat to the preservation of the historical monument.
The Great Wall of China, built in different historical eras, covers about 21 thousand kilometers. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is under state protection. The Chinese authorities regularly emphasize the need to respect the national cultural heritage.
