The transition of the Hainan Free Trade Port to the new customs system, scheduled for December 18, will improve business cooperation with Russia and other countries. The provincial press office stressed that the degree of freedom and convenience of trade and investment cooperation with foreign partners will increase. At the same time, Hainan's interaction with mainland China will remain at the same level.
Hainan is ready to offer better conditions for tourism and business by expanding the list of duty-free products from 1.9 thousand to 6.6 thousand items. These measures will cover most organizations on the island, including businesses, educational institutions, and NGOs. According to the authorities, all trips to Hainan— both business and tourist, will not require additional documents.
Russia remains the largest source of foreign tourists for the province: in 2024, the island received 178 thousand Russian citizens. It is expected that the launch of direct flights from various regions of Russia will increase passenger traffic. Among the most important joint events of the year are the opening of the MEI Educational Center in Hainan and the holding of the Russian—Chinese dialogue in Sanya.
